I’m a bit of an amateur physics nerd. A variety of physics and mathematics YouTube channels have appeared, and some are quite good, going a fair amount deeper than what you would see on Nova or other popular science media. Here are some of my favorites.
![]() | Physicist Dr. Matt O’Dowd does videos exploring mostly astrophysics, but also quantum physics. He digs deep, but makes it approachable for most people with some background in science. My favorite science channel! PBS Space Time |
![]() | Astrophysicist Dr. Becky provides high-energy videos exploring astronomy and astrophysics topics. She will charm you, and convince you to get that telescope out of the closet. Dr. Becky |
![]() | Dr. Sabine Hossenfelder formerly worked as physicist who brings her skeptical and often sarcastic slant on various science stories. She sometimes shares controversial views. Sabine Hossenfelder |
![]() | Grant Sanderson’s life mission, it seems, is to make visual topics from mathematics and sometimes physics that are only accessible to scholars. His videos may go too deep for some, but they are revelatory, even if you know something about the topic he’s discussing. Three Blue One Brown |
![]() | If you want a quick jolt of physics, there is no better place than Henry Reich’s Minute Physics channel. Henry illustrates and animates his videos on a white board, accompanied by a plucked stand-up bass. I know it sounds weird, but it really works. These days, his videos are usually around five minutes. Minute Physics |
